Andrea I met Andrea (pronounced Ahn-dree-uh) about…4 years ago I think, through Karin Tome. They are roommates and have known each other forever! If you know Karin, then you need to know that they are opposites in just about every way. Yet their friendship is strong.

Andrea is a sweet godly woman; shy at first until you get to know her. But she definitely has a playful side to her, as in playing jokes on good friends.

How long have you been at UPC? I have been at UPC for 3 years.

Where are you originally from? I was born in Mobile, Alabama but soon after we moved here. I have grown up in the Orlando area.

What are you hobbies/interests? I love to do absolutely anything outdoors. I like to run to stay in shape and I really enjoy playing tennis. I love to go hiking and camping, and I love the beach.

Favorite dessert? I am really not picky when it comes to desserts. Ice cream is probably my favorite, though.

How have you seen God work in your life? What a tough question to answer - He has worked in my life in so many ways! I have seen Him clearly lead me to become an elementary school teacher and then He has given me the patience and wisdom I have needed along the way. He has blessed me with some amazing friends and used them to teach me so much about life and about myself. I am definitely a perfectionist and a worrier, and I have seen Him work through circumstances to stretch me in these areas to trust Him more. I still struggle with these issues but I see small steps of growth. I just love that every day is an adventure and a new opportunity to see God work. (Editors note: as a recovering perfectionist and worrier, I understand.)

How can we be praying for you? You can pray that God would reveal my future to me. I am unclear as to where He is leading me. You can pray that I will be diligent in my personal time with God - learning to be still before Him.

I am honored to say that I know Andrea and have since we were in 8th grade together at The Master’s Academy. She is a wonderful, kind, and generous person. She will do most anything for her friends. I am proud to call myself one of them. If you don’t know her. Take a few moments to get to know her. She is truly special!

First, did anyone else pick up on the fact that Andrea and I are “opposites in every way” and then the first comment about Andrea is that she is a “sweet godly woman”? Well I did.

Nevertheless, saying that Andrea is sweet and godly is an understatement. I have never met someone more like Christ in my entire life. She is my very best friend. And anyone who has a best friend knows that buckets of laughter, tears, and love are wrapped up in that statement.

My favorite quality about Andrea is that she loves to serve. I’m not kidding. She actually loves doing the behind-the-scenes, never get the credit work of helping people. She hates wasting a second of her day and if she can spend her time helping others and being useful, she’ll do anything you ask. And she’s incredible with kids. In fact, my little nephew would rather see Andrea than me (I’m not joking!). Want to know where to find Andrea at UPC? You guessed it - serving in the children’s ministry or feeding the homeless on Saturday morning.

As you can see, I’ve got a lot to say about this girl. If you ever want to see Jesus, get to know Andrea. She’ll show you how he lived.

one more thing - isn’t it amazing that Andrea can be an Orlando native who was born in Mobile, AL?! I told you this girl was incredible.

  4. Kelly Says:

Karin, too funny about being opposites. For the record, I think you are a sweet godly woman, too!!

Nice to know more about you Andrea…where was that picture taken?? It’s a great one.

  5. Patricia Says:

Okay Karin, sorry about the “sweet godly” thing. You too are the SAME in that way! And since you are the true Orlando native, I also apologize about that, since you were born here. But I consider Andrea native enough since she’s been here since she was very young!

Other that both being godly women, you’re still exact opposites!!!

Since I have known then both for so long I am going to have to disagree with Patricia. Although Karin and Andrea have a lot of differences they are also very similar. They are both caring, kind, sweet, and loving. I think the biggest thing they have in common, besides their love for Chickfila and Sonny’s BBQ, is that they are both feirce friends. I am glad to have both of them in my life.

  7. Andrea Says:

You guys are so sweet! Kelly, the picture was taken in Maui. Karin and I went there this past summer - what an experience! And, thank you all for your prayers, the Lord has already begun to reveal part of His plan. Keep praying!

Lindsey, I liked your word “fierce friends” I’m going to remember that!
