In case you ever need Play Doh, and don’t want to go to the store. Or you need Play Doh “right now.” Or for whatever reason, now you can make your own. My kids like the adventure of making their own, but since it’s so cheap to buy I usually just get mine store-bought. (When I actually have it around. Honestly, I get tired of all the play doh “crumbs,” so don’t offer it too often. Of course, when I do it’s a big hit.)

1 cup water
1/2 cup salt
1 cup flour
1 Tbsp oil
1 tsp cream of tartar
food coloring

Stir several drops of food coloring into water, which is in a medium saucepan. Add the rest of the ingredients. Stir over medium heat until almost ball stage (about 1 minute.) Turn ball on a lightly floured board As soon as it’s cool enough to manage, knead into a small ball. Store in a tightly covered container or ziplock bag. Lasts a long time when stored properly.
