Julie Thompson writes: “Here’s a little different type of brownie. It’s my Aunt Velma’s Sheet Cake Recipe - goes great with vanilla ice cream!”

Aunt Velma’s Sheet Cake from Julie Thompson

2 c flour
2 c sugar
2 sticks margarine (divided)
1/2 c vegetable oil
1 c water
8T cocoa (divided)
2 eggs
2 tsp vanilla (divided)
1 tsp baking soda
1/2c buttermilk
6 T milk
1 lb powdered sugar

Stir flour and sugar together. Boil one stick margarine, oil, water, and 4 T of cocoa. Stir into flour mixture. Stir in 2 eggs, 1 tsp vanilla, baking soda and buttermilk. Pour into greased and floured jelly roll pan. Bake @ 400 for 20 minutes.

Icing: Boil one stick of margarine, 4 T cocoa, and the milk. Remove from heat and add 1 tsp vanilla and the powdered sugar. Mix until smooth - Spread on cake. Cake can be iced while it is still warm.
