As one of the youngest women at the Women’s Retreat, I just want to say how very refreshed I felt after spending a weekend with women of all ages. The laughter, wisdom, and encouragement from the women on the retreat seemed a tangible reminder to me of God’s love and faithfulness. I graduate from college in May and the world tells me that I’m supposed to have a plan and be ready to be independent and successful. This weekend it felt wonderful to rest and abide, to be nurtured and reminded that I don’t have to be strong… that God is my strength and that I am not alone.

I was at the retreat, too. First of all, I am 43 and do not know what I want to be when I grow up.
The retreat was refreshing for me also. I appreciated that Beth Moore kept returning to the letter of 1 John chapter 4. Specifically, Verse 7 “love is from God”, is a truth that I would like to grasp more completely. As I reflect on the weekend as well as this past week, I would like to say that I am successful and independent. However, I still need to know that the truth of love of God is found in the scriptures. I thank God, that no matter what stage of my life I am in, I can find reminding me of his love.

Great words of encouragement Sarah and Joy! It is crazy that we constantly yearn for independence and success but what God wants us to long for is dependence and rest. So contrary to the world. Last weekend showed me once again how I need to rest in and enjoy His love for me and not resist it.
