Yesterday Denise gave us great decorating ideas. Today we read the last of her decorating tips.
3. Experiment with color. In God’s gracious creativity He gave us all a favorite color. Whatever yours is, put something that color in each of the rooms you use the most. Don’t worry if it doesn’t “match” the rooms color scheme (you can choose the most compatible shade of your favorite to make this experiment less frightening). If you like red, add a pillow to a chair or sofa; or paint a picture frame orange for your bedroom or buy a sky blue lampshade. That one thing in the room will catch your eye when you walk in and can actually lift your spirits.
My favorite color is purple (remember the eccentric part) and although I don’t use purple in my family room I do have hanging in a prominent place a painting of a French field of lavender. It’s by a good friend of mine who is an artist in the primitive style. It doesn’t match the room’s colors or even the style of any other thing. But when I see it I can’t help but smile. After all, it is purple, and so very ME.
What is your favorite color and how do you decorate with it?

My favorite color is red. In a close 2nd is green. I tend to decorate with yellow as well so those are the three colors I like, but I realized that each room in my home has something green, even though red is the predominant color. Even in our “Clemson” (office) room, which is painted orange, I have flowers in there with green stems.
I didn’t realize I was doing that.
Great tips Denise.

What a great idea!!! I’ll have to think about how to add favorite colors into my house that will make me smile.
This makes me think of my kitchen: lavender-bluish walls with white cupboards and curtains -I love the color and even though white makes no sense with 3 small children (and one curtain right next the the bar stools where they often eat), it still makes me happy!!

I am a sucker for anything blue and chocolate brown. I just love the mellowing effect of blue with the deep chocolate brown.

I am in love with the limey, appley, green that is out now. I have decided to accent with it in our living room. I love it!

Pink. Yep, I never grew up. Pink is my signature color
My bedroom has always been pink, save the 8 months I lived in a different apartment and nearly died. The first thing I did when I moved to the new place was paint my bedroom pink (it’s subtle). I love pink flowers (gerber daisy), pink cupcakes, pink jelly bellies, pink starbursts, you name it.

Karin - Pink? Really? You just don’t strike me as a pink girl. Do you ever wear pink?

I know. I never wear pink (I prefer black and brown) and I’m not girly at all in the way that you would expect a person who likes pink to be girly. But I love it!!
